He was well renowned for his devotion to and respect for his wife. He and Halime Sultan had four kids together, and he passed away at the age of 90. The next ten years of his life were quietly spent in his tribe when he handed over all of his duties to his youngest son, Osman, because to his advanced age. The coins that Osman produced serve as historical evidence of his existence.

Despite this, Engin views the opportunity to play Ertugrul as a great honour because he was the first person in Turkish history to abandon the nomadic way of life and attempt to found a kingdom that would survive 600 years.
