Former national team wicketkeeper-batsman Umar Akmal has revealed that he does not want his son to become a cricketer because his family has faced injustices in the past.
In a video going viral on social media platforms, middle-order batsman Umar Akmal can be seen sitting in the nets doing a practice session, who aspires to follow in his father’s footsteps in cricket.
Despite his son’s desire to become a cricketer, national team middle-order batsman Umar Akmal is forced to discourage his son due to the injustices faced by his family.
He said that he is my son and he is very fond of cricket but if I give my honest opinion, I do not want him to play cricket as you know this is Pakistan.
The right-handed batsman then made a heartfelt request to his fans to please pray for my son’s success, if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants, he can play cricket.
It should be noted that Umar Akmal last represented the Pakistani team during the tour of Sri Lanka in 2019, and since then he has been out of the squad in all three formats.
