A Mumbai court has issued a new bailable warrant against Bollywood actress and dancer Malaika Arora.
According to Indian media, the warrant against Malaika has been issued for her failure to appear in court to testify in a case against Saif Ali Khan. The case relates to the alleged assault on NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma at a five-star hotel in Mumbai in 2012.
The report states that the incident took place on February 22, 2012, when Saif Ali Khan was at the hotel for dinner with his wife Kareena Kapoor, her sister Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora and some other friends.
According to the police, when Iqbal Sharma objected to the noise made by the artists, Saif allegedly threatened the businessman and punched him on the nose, resulting in a fractured nose. The businessman also alleged that Saif and his associates also attacked his father-in-law Raman Patel.
When the matter reached the court, Saif Ali Khan took the stand that Iqbal Sharma had used derogatory language against the women present with him, which led to an argument.
Actress Malaika Arora was ordered to appear in court to appear as a witness in this case, but the actress has not appeared yet, so a bailable warrant has been issued against the actress, which has been issued once before.
A charge sheet has been filed against Saif and his associates Shakeel Ladik and Bilal Amrohi under Section 325. The court proceedings have been adjourned till April 29.
